happy Easter, y'all

we had a wonderful Easter.  from basket hunting to church service to family dinner, it was all just plain awesome!

moms & kids

thanks to spring break, ma, t, haydn, and emmy came to stay with us for a few days.  it was fun! 

wednesday evening was pedicures for the girls and wii time for the boys.  then a big ol' tray of pizza and wings, followed by some relaxation and bedtime.  

thursday was run-around-olean day.  we hit the mall, and put a hurting on kohl's clearance :), then ate lunch at friendly's (yes, ice cream for dessert!), then bj's and finally home for some play time.  after dinner, we colored Easter eggs and also celebrated haydn's 9th birthday!  another jam-packed day led to an early bedtime for all. 

oh!  and t was gracious enough to wash any-and-everything baby related, so now that prep work is done for this momma (THANK YOU, JESSA!) 

fun fun fun for the steffy girls and kiddos!  my energy level isnt quite up to snuff, so i totally appreciated the help for a few days!  cant wait to do it again soon (hopefully within the next few weeks sometime - HOLY COW, 3 WEEKS!)

gummy bear's room is almost set.  just putting some finishing touches here and there, and saturday's to-do was decals.
von's tasks included watching some curious george on my phone, garbage patrol, piggy bank filler, deer observer, and musician.  
josh's tasks included decal application and looking awesome in his new flannel shirt.   
both boys did a superb job with their assignments.

early Easter

we headed down to kittanning last weekend for an early Easter celebration, and what a good time it was!  PLENTY of food, an egg hunt, family & friends, and some birthday celebrating too (dear pops turned 86, wooohooo!!).  
it's so crazy to imagine that there will be four of us the next time we head down :)

the dentist ... and the barn

port allegany held quite a few adventures for us this past friday.
the fun began with a visit with susan (mommy's co-worker).  von adores susan and enjoyed giggling with her at the kitchen table.  then we bundled up and headed to the barn (where susan keeps her horse, murphy).  ok, so the barn was cool in von's book, BUT the horses were still a bit too big for von.  he's warming up to them each time we go, but not completely comfortable yet (they are pretty incredibly large animals).  anyways, we visited the horses, talked to the cows in the pastures, then headed to the tractor barn (aka, von heaven).  von climbed onto every machine that he could.  susan & i watched as his imagination went wild.  it was great.  we headed back down to see the horses one more time, then due to the cold weather, we ended our barn adventure.  

back to susan's house we went, to clean up for the big dentist appointment.  maybe now would be a good time to explain that the dentist - dr kunkel - is susan's husband and his office is located behind their house.  ok, so over to the office we walked and von seemed pretty relaxed about it all.  i offered to set with him in the chair, so up into my lap he crawled and the exam began.  dr kunkel blew up a glove, sprayed us with the air hose, showed von all of his tools, played 'music' on von's teeth, then cleaned his chompers.  von never fussed once and was an excellent patient - pretty good for a two year old, if you ask me.  after von's clean bill of health, we headed back over to the kunkel house for some lunch. 

it was such a fun afternoon.  just look at how tuckered out von was from it all.  i'm thinking this barn/dentist combo will remain a hit for years to come!
