so i was about to grab a quick shower tonight, when i walked past von's room and saw this picture-perfect-moment. yup, it melted my heart too. hand hand, fingers, thumb was tonight's selection, with von's little legs 'thudding' on the floor for the occasional dramatic effect, hehee. (josh has a great jimmy stewart-like voice and is a phenomenal narrator/story-teller)

good ol' weekend

von had some visitors this weekend .. the PA crew! we went to spragues for breakfast *yum*, swam at the ymca, played around the house, and got in lots of hugging and snuggling. it's sure to be an adventure when you get us all under one roof :)

(oh, and the overall consensus is that the v-man is starting to get more hair)

binkies

so mommy & daddy bought me all these snazzy things called 'binkies' that are supposed to help with this whole teething process, but i'm having fun just chewing on them!

here's something you dont see very often .. napping! we're getting better though.
von went for his 6 month check-up last week and here are his latest stats:

• 17 pounds (23 percentile) and 27 & 3/4 inches (75 percentile) of happy baby boy

yup, he's still a string bean, so we're gonna work on putting some lbs on him!!
i took a look at my baby book and apparently i was a tad larger (21 pounds and 28 & 1/2 inches) compared to von at this age. we'll have to get josh's stats and post them to compare as well.

yet another 21st of the month, sigh ...

which book should i read this morning, mom? you do know i can read since i'm 7 months old today, right??

it's amazing what $5 at target can buy you ... not just a tote to put toys in, but a magical cube that von could sit in/play with forever :)

fresh air

we walked as much as possible this past week since old man winter gave us a break for a few days. exercise and naps were at an all time high :) the snow is back though, so we'll have to dust off the stroller again when spring comes around (hopefully soon).

horse!

thought it a good idea to see what ollie looks like from von's view (huge was my interpretation) ... and then we decided the time had come to ride her like a horse!! she's such an awesome/good/tolerable dog!

happy first valentine's day!

we had a pretty mellow first valentine's day on king st.
von looked too cute this morning in his new baseball jammies, so i snagged a few quick pics.
then, mr 'i like to stand all day long' decided he was going to start trying to pull himself up, and he was doing a pretty good job at it too.
other than that, we just kinda hung out. and seeing as how we simply cycle thru different rooms in our house playing all day, i'm really starting to enjoy this whole 'go ahead and leave things messy since we're just gonna get them all out of place again' thing :)

spring fever

yeah, we have a touch of that thing called spring fever....
the thermometer hit 40 today and we were out the door! von fell asleep on the way home from the store and to keep this nap thing going, we simply clicked him into his stroller and walked around the neighborhood for a good hour. oh it felt so good to breath the fresh air, stretch our legs, and enjoy some time as a family (just ask ollie!!). von's little peepers stayed closed (mind you we had him all bundled up under layers and layers of blankets) and he woke up just as we wheeled him into the garage.

AND MAY I PLEASE ADD THAT VON ALSO NAPPED IN HIS CRIB THIS MORNING!! IT WAS AN HOUR OF QUIETNESS HERE AT THE HOUSE, AAAAAH (THAT'S THE SOUND OF US RELAXING). maybe all of our hard work is paying off.

summer anyone??

we are getting some ants in our pants waiting for summer to get here. but von is ready with his cute whale hat ... come on heat and sun!!

superbowl

it was superbowl sunday and our pittsburgh steelers were playing, so of course we were celebrating!
ok, so we didnt win ... but von will have plenty of opportunities in the future to root for his black and gold again!!




but as you can see, the straps on his highchair were just as entertaining to von as was the superbowl. that's ok though :)

really, a sweatshirt??

seems quite impossible to me that my little man is old, and big, enough to be wearing his own sweatshirt?? check out his toasty warm booties and first fleece sweatshirt (and the cute little rolls on his legs).

the ultimate nap fighter

if you know our son, you know he doesnt believe in napping. von is a habitual cat-napper, and usually only agrees to said cat-napping while being held. argh, makes for some loooong days. we have honestly tried everything, but with no luck in the past. we eased up for a bit, thinking maybe he was too young to really 'get' any of our napping efforts. however, due to recent discoveries, we may just have to give this independent napping thing a try again ... HOORAY SWING! (notice my cat-like efforts to sneak up on von, hence why the footage is a little bobbled)
and with minor flu-cold-like-illness-fatigue running it's course thru mommy & daddy dynda, we could use the rest!

mouth open, scrunched up nose, arms and legs going a mile a minute .... sounds like the perfect recipe for a laughing fit, right? von was absolutely cracking us up tonight (however, josh is encouraging him to bring it down an octave so he sounds more manly. oh dear.)
