the big bad 5-monther has joined the world of 'solid foods' ... and he's doing great at picking up his bottle/trying to feed himself! it's so weird to put von in his highchair and eat dinner at the table again! seems like a whirlwind of change every time we blink!

first Christmas

just like most parents, we have a TON of pictures from von's first Christmas (waaaaaaaaay too many to post), but here are a few that capture his Holiday Spirit until we are able to do some editing.

we decided to let von discover the magic of drinking from a cup since he's been so curious lately. does this mean a sippy cup is in our near future?? gosh, 5 months sure has flown by!

pure exhaustion

lately ive been turning on some Christmas music, putting von in his jumper, and singing as i/we wrap gifts. von jumps, bounces, laughs, and squeals with delight. it really is one of the highlights of our day. apparently though, today was just too much for our little guy and he literally passed out during our 'Christmas hour' ... adorable, right?

gummin'

this is hands down my utmost favortist face that von makes ... i always try to capture it, but it somehow manages to elude me before i snap the picture. the humming noise that accompanies it is also to die for :)

mail call

here's what we looked like today when we decided to brave the snow and walk to the mailbox (it's all of about 20 yards to the end of the driveway)

improvise

sometimes ya just gotta improvise ...
von fell asleep on me today, but i decided to lay him down on the couch so that i could get some laundry done. those of you who know von, know he prefers napping in your arms. as soon i laid him down, he fussed a tad. looking around in my moment of 'uh-oh' desperation, there were of course no blankets anywhere nearby, so i grabbed the next best thing: a pillow. looked a little silly, but hey, it worked.

completely unrelated news: von is obsessed with his hands this week. he grabs, and i mean GRABS, EVERYTHING (note to ollie: LOOK OUT!). here are a few examples of things he enjoys grabbing: hair, drinking glass (while in use by one of his dear parents), keyboard (more of a 'banging' motion for this one), lips, necklace, ollie fur, items off your plate, or really just anything that's put within his reach. it gets more entertaining here each day :)

pennsylvania bound

our most recent trip to PA was excellent.
* haydn & emry were WONDERFUL babysitters.
* bath time in the big tub was a success.
* pa put a fussy von to bed when he wouldnt sleep for anyone else, awwwwwwwww :)
* we discovered that our 4 month old little boy is long enough for 9 month clothing (yikes!).
* von inherited an exersaucer, which he LOVES.
* oh yes, von makes an adorable elf!

all in all, a GREAT trip

looks like ollie has found a new cuddle buddy ...

kick kick kick

we figure he's gonna be the freestyle leg for the 2032 USA men's medley relay, however he's been surprising us and throwing in a 'frog kick' every now and then - could we possible have another breaststroke champ in the family??

our big-one-baby has done it, he has learned to roll!!!
also, he recently went for his 4 month check-up and here are his stats:
von sawyer dynda....
weighing in at a whopping 15lbs (40% percentile)
stretching in at a lengthy 26 inches (80% percentile)
he's our lean, mean baby machine (or a string bean, whichever suits your fancy)!
we just LOVE him to pieces!

baby it's cold outside ...

bundle up the baby, old man winter is here!! (and just like most babies, von is NOT a fan of being bundled up)

happy feet

von has managed to find his feet. whether he's in the tub, laying on the floor, sitting in his swing, etc etc, he wants to be holding his little tootsies. he also likes to look at or for them, like they disappear when he cant see them :)

bath or play?

being the crafty momma that i am, i decided to use this bath tub as a living room tub and let von play in it. it's also doubling as his lumbar support system, since he isnt quite sitting on his own 100% of the time. oh the treasures that have been passed to us - seriously, our basement is like a retail outlet with totes, totes, and more totes of goodies from my sister - JACKPOT!

nap time

apparently i missed the memo that it was nap time at the dynda house! my cuties, passed out by the fire on a snowy december day.

sitting pretty

all of those crunches & sit-ups are paying off as von is getting pretty good at this sitting thing. he might get a good 5 or 10 seconds, then TIMBERRRR, he topples over and chuckles. he's constantly doing 'v sits' where he'll pull his head/shoulders and his legs/feet up, it's just that measly belly in the middle that's getting in his way (the other morning, i went in to get him out of his crib and he looked like he was at the gym, working out his abs, hehee). it's just amazing to watch him as he is beginning to explore this world.

OH, and he's rolling now too!! however, he's much more hit or miss with that and we havent been able to capture any of those moments on camera yet. soon though, hopefully very soon ....
