pumpkinville 2012

oh man, oh man, ma & pa joined us for pumpkinville this year!  it was quite a cute time.  hay ride, mcintosh, petting/feeding zoo, an attempted pony ride (that didnt happen once von was beside the pony), singing chickens, a talking pumpking, some kettle corn, oh and pumpkins - lots and lots of pumpkins!  von had a great time (i think he'd prefer that we live on a farm actually) and was so glad to share it all with ma & pa. 

mcintosh

well, pumpkinville 2012 brought another ride on mcintosh.  von loved it, and why wouldnt he - there was a tractor involved.  seeing as how it's early in the season, we might even be able to manage another ride on mcintosh this year!  that would be awesome in von's opinion.

froggie!

von has a new pet ... well sort-of.  we discovered a frog in our basement window-well and have checked on him EVERY DAY since this discovery (sometimes two to three times/day).  von runs outside and says 'toggie', pointing to the window.  he looks and looks (sometimes the frog is hiding under leaves), then ollie joins in, which freaks the frog out and causes quite a commotion of jumping and squealing.  if we cant find froggie, we talk about where he might be - the playground with his other frog friends, out to eat somewhere, going for a walk, etc.  von thoroughly enjoys his new 'pet' and we are just fine with it as well - as long as it stays outside!

 

another gem

just when i thought we had visited all of the playgrounds around town, we find a new one.  and what a fun one it is!!  i must say, kudos to whatever committee or person that approved all of these kid-focused areas.  there are just so many cute playgrounds and spots for little ones around here.  

anyways, von thought this playground (dubbed 'the dinosaur playground') was squeal-ific.  he started out on the section for smaller children, but before i knew it, he was climbing the rock wall for the big kids.  we can't wait to take daddy with us next time!  stick around please, amazing weather, so that we may squeeze in as many playground trips as possible before the snow hits!

 

swine fest '12

boo for bad weather again this year!  we had planned on heading to swine fest before nap and making a day out of it, but mother nature decided that a rainy day would change our plans.  so when the rain let up later in the afternoon, we headed down to meet up with bebaw and pepaw (and jack, cant forget about jack!).  von was thrilled with the live music and we ended up having a fantastic abbreviated time.

NEMO!

i saw a commercial a few weeks ago about finding nemo being re-released in 3D and immediately began searching for nearby theaters.  of course, olean was not showing it, so i then searched erie and pittsburgh.  much to my pleasure, the theater that is only about 25 minutes from kittanning was showing it, so we packed up and headed south for a few fun days.  

ma, t, hay-hay, em, von, and myself enjoyed a popcorn filled afternoon on friday while we watched nemo.  von was a tad concerned during the previews as to where nemo was??  then the toy story pixar short came on, accompanied by some pretty awesome music, and von was just dancing away in his seat.  next nemo ... well, it held his attention for about a half hour.  then he was 'done'.  thus began the trips between each of our seats, stealing popcorn and drinks from everyone :)  a few trips to the bathroom and a little convincing, but he made it thru the movie.  

all in all, i'd say von enjoyed his movie adventure.  these snazzy orange glasses were an excellent souvenir, as well as von's stories about 'memo, the orange tish' and his demonstration of how sharks have lots of chompers :)

the imagination of a 2 year old

von has recently acquired his very own digger.  fully equipped with a heavy-duty door (that even has his name on it), a magic marker steering wheel, and some stickers ... oh and plenty of sound effects!
