family day

not much action these days, especially with the snow outside. we stayed in this morning and enjoyed some time together, just the three of us :)
then, uncle travis & aunt ashley stopped over this evening for a visit, and silly mommy forgot to get her camera out ... oops! ate some bananas, drank some juice, and got caught up. although there are no photos to prove it, we did indeed have a wonderful time with them!

friday funday

von & i ventured to pennsylvania for a few days to check-up on pops and then have some fun hanging out with family.
seems like von is going thru a phase where he acts really uncomfortable when he's anywhere but home, so it made for a long few nights. in fact, he kinda got away with a few too many shenanigans, in mommy's opinion.
however, we're home now, so mommy & daddy will get things back on track in no time at all :)

bundle of joy

due to the fact that outdoor temps have recently plummeted to below zero, we broke out the snowsuit! it's huge on von, he looks like a little seal waving his arms around. but, it made for pretty adorable pictures!

eureka!

our son is not a fan of napping on his own, so imagine our surprise when von nestled into his swing today and put himself to sleep. josh and i stood there just staring at each other saying 'what do we do now'?? it was WEIRD, REALLY WEIRD, having an hour to ourselves. and when von awoke, he simply grabbed his rattle and chewed on it until i came to pick him up - no crying at all!! maybe the earth, sun, moon, and stars are aligned today ... whatever it is, i'll take it! :)

good morning

mornings start earlier than they used to around here ....
some of us are more awake than others (josh thinks maybe von didnt get the memo that it's saturday) ....

risky business

ah-ha! i did it ...
at the risk of waking him (due to flash and beeping noise), i snuck into von's room and took a picture of him sleeping. snuggled in under his covers, giraffe blankie close-by, and lips moving a mile a minute (he still suckles in his sleep), i just couldn't pass this opportunity up. oh how i'll miss these nights in 15 years when he locks me out of his room during that rebellious teenage phase.
for now though, he's my perfect little sleeping baby.

crawling? what's crawling??

people let me tell you bout my best friend ...

yup, these two are starting to 'get' one another. ollie will squeak her toy to get von's attention, then it's just an all out battle to see who can make the most/loudest noises. they also have dinner time down .... ollie will play innocent under the table until von is done eating, and then he will start 'dropping' his spoon/bottle/napkins etc indicating that it's safe for her to come snoop around for any leftovers. they really do stare at each other in amazement sometimes. wonder what they're thinking inside those noggins??

quality time

we spend A LOT of time on the floor these days, seeing as how von has mastered the sitting technique. we still use the boppie for caution, but our little boy is quickly becoming a mobile mini-me :)

look what i can do ...

.... feed myself (or so i think).
oh dinner time is SO MUCH fun anymore. thus far, we've discovered that von likes green beans, carrots, peas, and squash. josh likes the beans and carrots the best. my vote is for squash or peas. sweet potatoes are still to be tried. it's honestly so neat watching von try a flavor for the first time. however, he's sure to let you know if you're taking too long in between spoonfuls ... just keep it coming and there wont be any problems ;)

luckily i got my camera in time for this keepsake moment:
i noticed von was really concentrating on his alphabet blocks, like he wanted to spell something out. he then sat back to double check his work, presented it with a 'tadaaa' and smiled for a photo-op with his final draft. national spelling bee in his future? time will only tell!

new expressions

von's expressions are pretty much priceless as of late because he's totally loving his tongue/gums/mouth (a result of being a champ at spoon feeding). some quality shots for your viewing pleasure:

loves

von's fighting a small infection on his finger, not napping the greatest, and gumming like crazy (aka could see a tooth pop thru any day now and wouldnt be surprised), so he was a little fussy today. that being said, he found comfort in his daddy's arms tonight and fell asleep before we could even plop him in the duck tub. since he was so tired, we put him to bed early ... meaning wake up will probably be like 6am for us tomorrow!!?! oh well, he's worth it ;-)

little fish, little fish

so we've started swim class at the ymca :)
our little skip (that's the name of our class) thought it was just pretty darn interesting. i'm sure von was thinking that it was a giant bath tub the entire time ... but nonetheless, he loved taking in this new environment. we sang songs, played with toys, and splashed around. ma and pa made the trip from PA to see his swimming debut and memaw gets to join us next week! just love it!!
