long time, no see

maybe it's all the excitement of walking, but i realized tonight that i hadnt taken any pictures of von (or made a post) in a week! so here's a little peek at what our simple evening at home looked like for a few minutes:

guess WHAT?!

VON. IS. WALKING!
so yup, he's even more mobile now!! it all started when he & i were sitting in our living room last week; he was holding onto the couch, turned around to look for me, and then just came wobbling towards me. i couldnt believe it, so i staged it all to happen again, and he did it with flying colors! i called both grandmas and squealed with delight. he has worked on it each day since then, becoming braver & more stable by the minute. we busted out the camera to video it on sunday, and guess what, we failed to catch it every time. however, when i got home from work yesterday, all von wanted to do was walk back & forth between grandma and mommy. i'm talking eight steps, and i was a beaming proud mother :) so after swim class last night, i thought i'd try my luck again with videoing it all, and it worked! von took about eight steps towards me in the middle of the room :)
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK our world is about to change yet again! time to move all valuables even higher, lock the baby gates tighter, and get our eagle eyes ready for whatever mischief our little guy is going to get in to :)

daddy day

von & i were super excited to celebrate josh on his first father's day!
von started by waking daddy & giving him his card and gift. then we enjoyed some cuddling and a few cheerios in bed, while we watched a little disney junior. finally, dr tooth made a double appearance today (von's aunt tiffany custom-made this awesome mini-me shirt a few Christmases ago when we were expecting). the boys were beyond cool in their stylish matching ensemble.
and although there are no pictures, we had a delish dinner with grandma & grandpa to celebrate frank & josh.
von is now snuggled in his crib after an exceptional day of dads.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL OF THE WONDERFUL DADS IN OUR BLESSED FAMILY!




* the 'epic post' we mentioned yesterday is still in the works. it's coming, i promise!

put your heady down

so von has picked up a new talent recently ...
a few weekends ago, ma started saying 'lay your heady down,' and he would put his head on your lap or shoulder and cuddle for a minute. well now if you say it to him, he literally stops in his tracks and puts his head on the floor. cute, right? (it really is, you should see it in person) anyways, he crawled over to ollie the other day and just started doing it unprompted. it was soooooooooo cute, and luckily i had my camera handy.

thanks once again to auntie j's saving skills, von has landed a new backyard toy.
just look at the excitement on his face ... he LOVES it!!!!

adventures of friday!

von had a wonderful surprise when he awoke from his friday 'nap': ma, auntie j, haydn & emry were here for a visit!
the kids enjoyed some 'pool time' (aka the smaaaaaaaaaaaaaall turtle baby pool on our back deck), then we walked to HI HO for some delicious ice cream treats, hit the playground on our walk home, and of course, had a slumber party to top off the night!
pa arrived later with the delivery of some furniture, and then we all settled in for the evening.
family time is most excellent!!

rhododendron

ma had a pretty good suggestion: take von's picture every year by the rhododendron, both for size comparison and just because it's plain old pretty.
see, we have a MASSIVE and beautiful rhododendron bush by our front porch. in full bloom, you'd swear you were in hawaii with it's tropic beauty. i may have missed it's full 'magentic' color by just a few days, but check our these photos of von and this AMAZING background. seriously, he's dwarfed by it's size!

our little puppy LOVES putting any-and-everything in his mouth 24/7.

action-packed few days

mr von sawyer lives a pretty good life. lots of people love him and he's showered with much attention. the past few days have been a prime example of all of these things:

first, pa read him a story (his favorite 'blue hat, green hat' to be exact)

next, ma fed him breakfast on the back deck (who doesnt love a little vanilla yogurt with fruit??)

finally, a nice nap in the swing (accompanied by a peaceful breeze on a sun shiny day)



aaah, yes, life is good!!

more birthdays!

mommy & ollie both turned another year older! what's crazy is that big boy's first birthday is coming up next!
